Record: Pemba does Everest in 8 hours

This season, yet another record was established. A young sherpa climber today scaled Mt. Everest, the highest peak of the world, in a record time of 8 hours and 10 minutes.

Pemba Dorjee Sherpa is officially the fastest man to reach the summit, beating the previos record of 10 hours, 56 minutes and 46 seconds, set by Laskpa Gelu, a veteran Sherpa guide who has scaled Everest 10 times.

Pemba's new record has placed him as the fastest man to reach Everest.

On May 26, 2003, Lakpa and bettered Pemba's earlier record of 12 hours just three days after the former set it.
