One of the interesting things about modern Nepalese coins is that there are a few very rare issues or dates that nobody really seem to know anything about. Examples could be the 2040/1983 1 paisa (KM1012) or the 2039 / 1982 10 paisa (KM1014.1).
I have spoken with several Nepalese coin sellers about these coins. Some say they exist, some say they don't. But noone has in fact seen the coins. The expert on Nepalese coins, Nicholas Rhodes, who I have the fortune to know, cannot confirm or deny the existense of these coins either.
So - I wonder if there is any information available on these coins from sources that I have not heard of? Has anyone actually SEEN these coins?

Admin, I understand that you are from Nepal. One would suppose that if these coins really exist, some Nepalese collectors would own them. Do you know any major Nepalese coin collectors that I could contact on this matter?

Madmuffin, regarding your queries on Nepal Modern Coins Specially On KM1012 and KM1014.1 please be informed that they are in existence but a very few were issued. Actually, they were issued at the end of 2039 V.S., so the date printing soon changed to 2040 V.S. . All other values of this series with 2039 VS is very scarce. Yes KM 1012 I have got and the 2nd one I have seen.
Please write if u have any more queries.

Dear Sagar & Madmuffin,
I have actually seen 2039 10 Paisa, but I have not managed to acquire it for my collection - I just have the aluminium 1, 5 & 25 paisa pieces of 2039 - the 5 paisa seems "almost unique", whereas the 1p & 25p are relatively available. It would certainly be interesting to try to find mintage figures. The 8.971 million in my edition of K&M is clearly rubbish, and obviously includes 2040... - confusion between VS date and AD date - or some other financial year, presumably.
The 2040 1p I have never seen - has anyone else?
Other rarities I am missing are the 2025 10p (KM.765) & 50p (KM.760) - they seem much more difficult to get than the legendary Gyanendra mohar.
I'm not sure how this chatroom works - so hope I press the right buttons...
Best regards,
Nick

Nick, nice to see you around
Sagar1908, thanks for your interesting information. I find it fascinating that such modern rarities exist. They are a lot more fun to find than shiny commemoratives with low mintages. But it looks like I have to be quite patient with these ones
Nick, I agree with you that the Krause listings are not too precise on certain points. But then that makes it possible for those who have a knowledge about these coins to be lucky and find them at a fairly low price some day.
