ON 14TH MARCH 2007 NEPAL ISSUED A RUPEES 25 COIN WITHOUT THE KING’S NAME

On 14th March 2007, Nepal issued a new commemorative coin of Rupees 25 denomination to commemorate 125 year of Postage stamp in Nepal.
After political changes in Nepal this is the first coin without the name of the king. The regular obverse design has been changed. Instead of regular obverse design, there is a postal runner carrying postal bag at his back and at right hand the famous Bhala (pointed stick). On reverse there is the image of first one anna postage stamp issued in 1881, at the centre, surrounded by the legend “125 years first postage stamp” in Nepali and English and Rupees 25 at left and right with following specification;

Denomination – Rupees 25
Size - 29mm
Metal Composition - Copper-Nickel
Weight - 8.5 gm

NEPAL ISSDUED A NEW RUPEES 20 BANKNOTE ON OCTOBER 20, 2006

On the occasion of Diwali the festival of lights on October 20, 2006 Nepal issued a new Rupees 20 denomination banknote with the vernacular text slightly revised as below;

On obverse at the left side of the temple top the legend "Nepal Sarkar ko" is printed instead of "Sri 5 ko Sarkar ko", rest of the texts and the specifications are as before with signature # 16.

On September 22nd, 2006 Nepal issued a new Rupees five denomination banknote with the vernacular text slightly revised as below; On obverse at the left side of the temple top the legend "Nepal Sarkar ko" is printed instead of "Sri 5 ko Sarkar ko", rest of the texts and the specifications are as before with signature # 16.

NEPAL ISSUED RS. 50 COMMEMORATIVE BANKNOTE ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2006

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Nepal Rastra Bank a new Rupees 50 denomination Commemorative banknote was issued on September 8, 2006 with king Gyanendra portrait in National dress, and with following details;

It has Mount Machhapuchre at front and Mount Ama Dablam and a pair of Danphe the National Bird of Nepal at back.

A must have item for Mountain and BIRD theme collectors.

a) Commemorative banknote issued for the Golden Jubilee of Nepal Rastra Bank.
b) Denomination: Rupees 50.
c) Color: Green, Red, Yellow and m/c.
d) Obverse: Portrait of HM King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev in National dress, NRB Golden Jubilee Logo, Mount Machhapuchre, NRB Head Office Building and Ashoka pillar, Lumbini. Reveres: “ Nepal Rastra Bank Golden Jubilee Year 2005” printed above Mount Ama Dablam and a pair of Danphe Bird the National Bird of Nepal. Size: 70 x 142 mm.
e) Watermark of King’s portrait.

NEW REGULAR ONE RUPEE COIN ISSUED IN AUGUST 2006

Numismatics Nepal has issued a new one rupee regular coin with old mint date BS 2062, in August 2006 = BS 2063 Shrawan, four months behind the mint date.

The SPECIFICATIONS of the coin is as below;

Subject: Sri Talbarahi Temple, Denomination: Rupee 1, Metal Contents: Brass plated Steel, Year of mint BS 2062 (2005 AD), Diametre: 20 mm, Weight: 4 gm, Edge: plain, Colour: Golden

Minted at China Bank Note Printing and Minting Corporation, Bejing, China.

Banknotes:: BOOK: NOTES AND COINS OF NEPAL Published by Nepal Rastra Bank

Nepal Rastra Bank the Currency issuing authority of Nepal has published a very informative book called “Notes and Coins of Nepal.“ This hard covered book is published in 2006 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Nepal Rastra Bank. The book contains two sections for the Bank notes and coins of Nepal. The bank note section of the book gives the detailed information about the printer, quantity printed, size and color of the notes, prefix serial numbers and replacement details of most of the notes issued since 1945 to 2006. Colored specimen illustrations are shown in actual size with printer’s name of all banknotes.

It is a first officially printed book, which has given glossary of all the Nepali vernacular numerals and text details used on banknotes.

It will definitely help ease the collector to specialize on the field of Nepal bank note collection. The coin section is subdivided for commemorative and regular coins. The commemorative coins issued since 1984 to 2005 are illustrated with all detailed specifications. Similarly the regular coins issued since 1982 are shown along with the Gold coin Asarfi. All coin details and specifications are provided by Nepal Rastra Bank, Currency Management Department, Mint Division. Book has art bound paper 140 pages size 8.5” x 24” with hard cover.

NEPAL ISSUED A NEW 100 RUPEES BANKNOTE IN JUNE 2006

In June 2006 Nepal issued a new 100 Rupees denomination banknote with the portrait of king Gyanendra Bira Bikrama and signature of Governor Bija Nath Bhatarai (sig. 16) The main features of this new banknote are as below; Front: The position of the centre main text rearranged to view the mountain picks clearly. Vernacular numerical font changed. Back: Vernacular numerical font changed. The security numerical bands flow removed.

Nepal has issued a Copper Nickel coin of 25 Rupees denomination to commemorate the World Hindu Federation Silver Jubilee 2006.

Coins: Nepal issued two new coins in May 2006.

On May 21st o6' Nepal Rastra Bank has issued a 10 gram Ashraphi and Rupees 50 (as shown here in the scanned image) denomination copper nickel coin to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the supreme court of Nepal. Quantity minted Ashraphi 1000 pcs and the other coin 10000 pcs.
 
Ashraphi costs 18000 Rupees about $ 257.00 and prices are fluctuating every day.
 
Obverse has regular design and Reverse has Supreme Court building with ‘Justice for all’ legend in vernacular Nepali. Surrounded by ‘Supreme court Nepal, Golden Jubilee 1956 – 2006’ in English and Nepali.
